Chinese water chestnut tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally when temperatures exceed 77℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 68℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor cases can recover, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before future cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or burlap, and build a windbreak to shield it from harsh winds.

Symptoms
In summer, Chinese water chestnut should be kept below 86℉. When temperatures rise above 95℉, leaves may lighten in color, tips might dry and shrivel, foliage could curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
