Signs of Cold Stress in Echeveria runyonii
Symptoms
Echeveria runyonii cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when the temperature ranges from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it must be maintained above 55℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, its leaves will show waterlogged tissue death and drooping. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely droop and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Immediately relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for thermal protection. If moving indoors, select a position near a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent rot from inadequate ventilation.
Signs of Heat Stress in Echeveria runyonii
Symptoms
In summer, Echeveria runyonii should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant will become dormant and is more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Remove any dry and decayed portions. Transfer the plant to a location with partial shade, shielding it from direct sun exposure during midday and afternoon. Cease watering the plant until temperatures decrease.
