Signs of Cold Stress in Durian
Symptoms
Durian favors warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. It flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 77℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 68℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, foliage may lose vibrancy. Following frost damage, leaves progressively turn brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping might appear.
Solutions
Remove frost-affected sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm setting for protection from cold. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent excessive air dryness.
Signs of Heat Stress in Durian
Symptoms
In summer, Durian should be maintained below 95℉. When temperatures surpass 104℉, leaf coloration fades, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-scorched and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
