Signs of Cold Stress in Longan
Symptoms
Longan exhibits fair resilience to cold and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 77℉. In winter, it should be maintained above 59℉. Should the temperature drop below 41℉, foliage may begin to sag. In minor instances, recovery is possible, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent exposure to low temperatures, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and erect a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Longan
Symptoms
In summer, Longan should be kept below 95℉. When temperatures surpass 104℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
