Signs of Cold Stress in Southern crabgrass
Symptoms
Southern crabgrass tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures exceed 77℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 68℉. If temperatures drop below 59℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Southern crabgrass
Symptoms
In summer, Southern crabgrass should be maintained below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl, become prone to sun damage, and in extreme cases, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
