Signs of Cold Temperatures in China fir
Symptoms
China fir tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 41℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter damage may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in China fir
Symptoms
During summer, China fir should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, their tips might dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
