Signs of Cold Stress in Saffron crocus
Symptoms
Saffron crocus tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 59℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 41℉, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, there could be reduced or absent sprouting in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout.
Signs of Heat Stress in Saffron crocus
Symptoms
During summer, Saffron crocus should be maintained below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl, become prone to sun damage, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
