Signs of Cold Stress in Red pagoda
Symptoms
Red pagoda cannot withstand very low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 60℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, its leaves will show water-soaked tissue death and drooping. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely droop and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. When bringing it inside, select a spot near a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a temporary greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent rot from poor ventilation.
Signs of Heat Stress in Red pagoda
Symptoms
In summer, Red pagoda should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, the plant will enter dormancy, and it becomes more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Remove any dry and decayed portions. Relocate the plant to a location with partial shade, shielding it from direct sun during midday and afternoon. Cease watering the plant until temperatures decrease.
