Symptoms
Turkish hazel is highly resistant to cold, but winter temperatures should be kept above 41℉. If temperatures fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches could become fragile and dry in spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.
Indications of High Temperature in Turkish hazel
Symptoms
Turkish hazel does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When the temperature surpasses 77℉, it can lead to considerable leaf shedding, and in extreme instances, the entire plant may wilt and perish.
Solutions
Cut off any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
