Signs of Cold Stress in Pampas grass
Symptoms
Pampas grass tolerates cold moderately and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 32℉. If temperatures drop below 20℉, leaves might begin to sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before further cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from harsh winds.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pampas grass
Symptoms
In summer, Pampas grass should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, leaf color fades, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
