Signs of Cold Stress in Cornelian cherry
Symptoms
Cornelian cherry exhibits exceptional cold hardiness, yet winter temperatures should remain above 32℉. Should temperatures fall below this point, while no immediate winter damage may be apparent, branches might become fragile and desiccated by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any lifeless branches that have not developed fresh foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cornelian cherry
Symptoms
Cornelian cherry does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 70℉, it can suffer substantial leaf shedding, and in extreme instances, the entire plant may wilt and perish.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-scorched and dried sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
