Signs of Cold Stress in Silky dogwood
Symptoms
Silky dogwood tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be seen, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Silky dogwood
Symptoms
In summer, Silky dogwood should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, their tips could dry and wither, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
