Indications of Cold Temperatures in Sawara cypress
Symptoms
Sawara cypress tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.
Indications of High Temperatures in Sawara cypress
Symptoms
During summer, Sawara cypress should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, tips might dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
