Signs of Cold Stress in Hinoki cypress
Symptoms
Hinoki cypress tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 50℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 32℉. If temperatures drop below 20℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.

Symptoms
During summer, Hinoki cypress should be kept below 86℉. When temperatures exceed 95℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in color, tips might dry and wither, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
