Signs of Cold Stress in Crimson cattleya
Symptoms
Crimson cattleya flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 55℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, leaves will show widespread water-soaked tissue death, wilting, and drooping.
Solutions
Remove any frost-damaged sections. Promptly move the plant indoors to a warm spot for cold protection. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Also, avoid placing it near heating or cooling vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Crimson cattleya
Symptoms
In summer, Crimson cattleya should be kept below 80℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant stops growing, and its leaves progressively wilt. It becomes more prone to root decay and can easily get scorched by direct sunlight.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburnt and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain moisture for both the plant and its surroundings.
