Signs of Cold Temperatures in Dwarf Chestnut
Symptoms
Dwarf Chestnut tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 55℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, while no immediate changes might be seen in winter, branches can become fragile and parched by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any lifeless branches that haven't produced fresh foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in Dwarf Chestnut
Symptoms
In summer, Dwarf Chestnut should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off the sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
