Signs of Cold Stress in Chinese chestnut

Chinese chestnut tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 30℉, while no immediate winter changes may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, preventing new growth.

In summer, Chinese chestnut should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, their tips may dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
