Signs of Cold Stress in Sand hickory
Symptoms
Sand hickory tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes may be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that have not produced new foliage.

Symptoms
In summer, Sand hickory should be kept below 79℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, tips might dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
