Signs of Cold Stress in Chinese trumpet creeper
Symptoms
Chinese trumpet creeper tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chinese trumpet creeper
Symptoms
In summer, Chinese trumpet creeper should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
