Signs of Cold Stress in Areca palm
Symptoms
Areca palm thrives in warmth and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs above 70℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. Below 40℉, leaves may lose color. Post-frost, they progressively turn brown or black, exhibiting wilting and drooping.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm area for cold protection. Position the plant near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Avoid placing near heaters or AC vents to prevent air dryness.
Signs of Heat Stress in Areca palm
Symptoms
In summer, Areca palm should remain below 86℉. Exceeding 95℉ causes leaves to lighten and increases sunburn vulnerability.
Solutions
Remove any sunburned or desiccated parts. Relocate the plant to a spot offering shade from intense midday and afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
