Signs of Cold Stress in Yellow Buckeye
Symptoms
Yellow Buckeye tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while no immediate winter changes might be seen, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Yellow Buckeye
Symptoms
In summer, Yellow Buckeye should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, tips could dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
