Signs of Cold Stress in Desert rose
Symptoms
Desert rose flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 68℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 59℉. Below 41℉, the plant may weaken, droop, and be susceptible to root decay. Minor frost damage might not show immediately, but the plant will slowly decline after about a week.
Solutions
Cut away frost-damaged sections, checking for root rot. If roots are rotted, remove them, and the plant can be propagated from cuttings. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm spot, positioning it near a south-facing window for adequate light. If natural light is insufficient, provide supplementary illumination.
Signs of Heat Stress in Desert rose
Symptoms
In summer, Desert rose should be kept below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant stops growing, dehydrates, wilts, and is more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Discard sunburnt and decayed portions. Protect the plant from intense afternoon sun until it recovers and resumes growth. For plants with root rot, cease watering until new roots appear.
