Signs of Cold Conditions in Shandong maple
Symptoms
Shandong maple tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any lifeless branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Excessive Heat in Shandong maple
Symptoms
In summer, Shandong maple should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off the sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth. Hydrate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
