Indications of Cold Temperatures for Smooth phlox
Symptoms
Smooth phlox tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, reduced or absent sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.

Symptoms
During summer, Smooth phlox should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl, become prone to sun damage, and in extreme cases, the whole plant could wilt and desiccate.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried-out portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
